We have some variety, perhaps due to construction and landscaping of the site 20 years ago, and addition of topsoil at various times: - **Sandy**: Stream banks, and in front of house. Upper banks are the dryest soil. Low organic matter, fast draining. - **Sandy loam**: S end of the site, especially the SW bed: thin layer of loamier topsoil, on top of sandstone rock. Poorly drained in some areas. - **Very heavy clay** 30cm down at the North end of the site, and at the surface in two beds N of house.
