## Concepts App - Learn to Draw series
### 1 - Getting Started

https://concepts.app/en/learntodraw/learn-to-draw-part-1/
*Warmup* for a few minutes, practice them daily, will help line/confidence/intuitiveness
Circles, elipses, lines, curves, shading lines
*Kinetic*: Keep arm moving, practise the motion then hit the surface; move whole arm from shoulder not just wrist/fingers, gives more looseness / confidence

## 6 Steps to using structure
From **Antonio Stappaerts** on **Proko**: https://youtu.be/6T_-DiAzYBc
also has training site https://artwod.com
1. Structuralisation
- drawing 3D simple shapes, blocks
2. Manipulation
- learn how to stretch, squish, perspectivise, contort those blocks
- and combinations of them
- *this is key to practice a lot*. Could apply [[Iterative Drawing]] here
3. Observation
- represent an observed thing with the above
- practise observing other work and the structures that make it up (need not be your focus subject area, look at lots)
4. Education
- get deep in your focus area, e.g. figures, creatures, anatomy, machines, whatever
5. Imitation
- of artists you like or find interesting
- of styles, examples
6. Imagination
- learn to make simple shapes look interesting first, before going for more complex things
Meta: also have structure in your training and learning approach :)
## Other random tips
> Thinking about stuff is not doing stuff. Action comes before motivation
> At first just draw a lot, draw the same thing every day
(and worry about the rest later)
> *YouTube [comment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6NsEDwHHiE&lc=UgwqyJvf01njY1XxTzF4AaABAg):* My drawing skill and handwriting skill improved drastically once I started imagining the starting point and stopping point of each line just before I drew the line. Imagine the line, see it in your mind, then draw it onto the paper. With practice, you can do it very quickly and deliberately. No sketchy hash marks, ever.
