# Creatine
A naturally-occuring compound in skeletal muscle, which facilitates recycling of [[Adenosine diphosphate (ADP)]] back to [[Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)]] by donation of phosphate groups.
Proven effective for improving running performance and possibly recovery. Increases maximum power in high-intensity anaerobic work. No significant effect on aerobic performance.
Elimination half-life is short, around 3 hours.
Dose typically 3-5g/day for maintenance.
