# Easter Hat Parade
This is a thing where the Australian kids go and parade around with Easter hats with all the usual Easter regalia of eggs, baby chicks, rabbit ears, etc etc. Maybe chocolate.
It appears to have come out of Christian Easter rituals, hence:
Fine clothes and a bonnet for church on Easter Sunday
-> new hat for Easter
-> kids parading.
(Seems legit.)
It's a surprisingly big deal in Australia, it's actually a school event, with parents expected to help their kids deliver. (Not everyone is Christian, but they don't seem to have noticed. "The kids love it. It's just a bit of fun.") Yet it basically doesn't exist in New Zealand. Why? I must say it weirded me out slightly on moving to Australia...
It may also be a thing in the US, I am unsure, and may never find out.
Supposedly in the UK too, but personally I think that's a lie, as I do not remember being made to do such a thing...
