# Meetings, Bloody Meetings
https://archive.org/details/meetingsbloodymeetings
John Cleese, Timothy West and others explain how not to have a meeting.
> Tim? Why can't you do your work... while you're ***at*** work?
Their eventual summary of how to run a meeting (Mr Cleese has to recite this to the judge of bad meetings, in order to be allowed to wake up from his dream):
1. **Plan**. Get clear on objectives: why are we meeting. List subjects.
2. **Inform**. Make sure veryeone knows what is being discussed and what we want from it. Anticipate what information and people are needed, make sure they're there.
3. **Prepare**. Logical sequence of items. Time allocation to items by importance, not urgency.
4. **Structure & Control**. Evidence, Interpretation, Action in that order. Stop people jumping around or rehashing.
5. **Summarise & Record**. Summarise all decisions. Record actions against responsible person.
