tags: #publish links: [[Acoustics]] created: 2021-09-24 Fri --- # Subwoofer placement - General advice seems to be: place in the centre front, near the wall, between the two monitor speakers. - Not *too* close to the wall: "[double the width of the bass port](https://homedjstudio.com/studio-subwoofer/)". I suspect this isn't super relevant, and keeping close to the wall is more important to avoid 1/4-wavelength wall standing wave effects at bass frequencies - [[Speaker boundary interference response]] - Some advise placing in the corner, but this is mainly "to make the bass louder" kind of level of advise. (Corner effect is stronger than one-wall effect.) - Corner placement may however [excite more room modes - denser standing wave pattern - fewer nulls](https://www.svsound.com/blogs/subwoofer-setup-and-tuning/75365187-the-art-of-subwoofer-placement). The main factor that may override any default recommendations is the room characteristics and sound treatment. Have to experiment.
