# Constellation Software
https://shomik.substack.com/p/constellation-software-and-org-design
A large software company conglomerate, structured as multiple semi-autonomous divisions, partially constrained by the central company HQ to optimise for rapid acquisition of a large number of cash-flow-rich vertical market software companies.
(e.g. smaller specialist companies in software for real estate, gym, hospitality, education, library management, agriculture, payments, etc etc)
An interesting example of [[Organisation Design]]: constrained autonomy of sub-units to allow flexibility and move rapidly; employee incentives. The overall company has grown ~35x in 10 years.
Perhaps this is a successful accommodation of [[How organisations are like slime mould]]?
